Parental Counseling

Home and school form the two pillars of a child’s life. Therefore, it is essential that the child is able to thrive in both environments. Most of how a child behaves comes from responses seen either at home or at school. Thus, it is imperative to understand the environment here to see what is triggering the child’s behaviour.

Parent management looks at how parents can reinforce desirable behaviors in their children, discourage unwanted behaviors, and improve parent-child interactions. During these sessions, parents learn how to carefully observe their children’s behaviors at home and are taught skills to reward their children’s positive behaviors by using praise, positive attention, and rewards. How to draw boundaries in terms of how to ignore and discourage bad behaviours, rule setting and time-outs are also looked at in a manner that allows the parent to do so without getting into a contant argument with the child.
