Parental Conflicts

Family conflict can take a huge toll on a child’s development. A healthy family environment plays a critical role in the developmental process. Unhealthy and negative patterns such as suppressing independent thinking, lack of clear and direct communication, blaming and criticizing,  critical/ sarcastic comments are very detrimental for mental wellbeing for each adolescent.

Health issues, financial instability, lack of an external support system can be some of the realistic reasons which directly or indirectly affect family dynamics and may cause additional burden on the family.

Adolescents may react or respond to such stressors in a negative way if they have not learned constructive coping mechanisms in childhood or have not been exposed to subtle realities of life.  Clear and empathetic communication, understanding of the differences, acceptance and resilience to overcome the interpersonal difficulties is the essence of a positive family environment.
