Nowadays people are more aware about the importance of education. As the population is also high and the economy is developing at a fast pace, at an individual level, struggle has increased. At a singular family unit level every parent is getting more conscious and concerned about their child’s career.
In the process, they push them to do well in academics. As parents are stressed they forward it onto their children by keeping unrealistic expectations and not paying attention to understanding the child’s liking, capability, limitations and aspirations. This increases burden for children and results in a conflict of choices.
They want to please their parents and not upset them, but at the same time they can not be themselves and understand what they should be doing. To avoid the stress associated with the situation they may form wrong impressions about themselves and how the world works and as an adult have unrealistic expectations from themselves and may use short term deconstructive approaches to handle the situation.
