Behavioral treatment approaches are focused mainly on treating maladaptive behaviors. The therapeutic approach assumes that both normal and maladaptive behaviors are learned and that appropriate therapy will help a person learn new adaptive behavior and ‘unlearn’ maladaptive behavior.
